Interpretation Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated April 14, 2015, and pursuant to Sections 7 and 30 of

Chapter 376 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Act,

Section 10 of

Chapter 70 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Civil Service Act,

Section 18 of

Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the

Interpretation Act and all authority in him vested, is pleased to, effective May 1, 2015: (

a) revoke the appointment of Judith Ferguson as Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Attorney General; (

b) appoint Thilairani (Tilly) Pillay, Q.C. as Acting Deputy Attorney General and Acting Deputy Minister of Justice; (

c) designate Thilairani (Tilly) Pillay, Q.C. as a deputy head within the meaning of the Civil Service Act ; (

d) fix and determine the salary of Thilairani (Tilly) Pillay, Q.C. to be at such rate as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier in accordance with the Senior Officials Pay Plan as it applies to Deputy Ministers; and (

e) direct that Thilairani (Tilly) Pillay, Q.C. shall receive all customary benefits associated with the position of deputy head including participation in the Province of Nova Scotia Long Term Disability Plan and such other benefits as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier.
