EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Bill would amend the Co-operatives Act to allow the name of a

French form.

AN ACT TO AMEND THE CO-OPERATIVES ACT

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and

House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

as amended

1. (1) Subsection 12(2) of the Co-operatives Act is repealed and the

following substituted:

(2) The word "co-operative" or "cooprative"

shall be part of the name of every co-operative.

(2) Section 12 of the Act is amended by adding

immediately after subsection (2) the following:

(2.1) A co-operative may set out its name in its

form.
