On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, orders that the Sound Recording Regulations, B.C. Reg. 249/78, are amended as set out in the attached Schedule.

Schedule

Section 1 of the Sound Recording Regulations, B.C. Reg. 249/78, is amended

(

a) by repealing the definition of "authorized reporter" and substituting the following:

"authorized reporter" means an authorized reporter within the meaning of the Official Reporters (Supreme Court) Regulation; , and

(

b) by repealing the definition of "sound recording apparatus" and substituting the following:

"sound recording apparatus" means a device or technological system that is capable of accurately recording speech and other sounds and of storing the recordings in a medium that is suitable for permanent retention.

Section 6 (4) is repealed and the following substituted:

(4) A transcript of a proceeding, or of a portion of a proceeding, that is certified under

section 4, or by an authorized reporter in accordance with

section 7 of the Official Reporters (Supreme Court) Regulation, is evidence of the official record.
