BILL 205 PROJET DE LOI 205 THE FILIPINO HERITAGE MONTH ACT

WHEREAS Filipinos have chosen Manitoba to call home since the 1950s and have established their roots in the province, reaching every corner from urban centres to rural areas; AND

WHEREAS the Filipino community has become an integral part of Manitoba's social, economic, political and cultural fabric; AND

WHEREAS the Filipino language has become one of the most commonly spoken languages in Manitoba; AND

WHEREAS the Filipino community has contributed tremendously to the growth, prosperity and development of Manitoba and will continue to do so; AND

WHEREAS the appreciation of the vibrant Filipino heritage and culture and the success and strength of the community is traditionally celebrated during the month of June in Manitoba because June 12 is Philippine Independence Day; Attendu : que des Philippins élisent domicile au Manitoba depuis les années 1950 et qu'ils se sont établis aux quatre coins de la province, tant dans les centres urbains que dans les régions rurales; que la communauté philippine fait désormais
