Salt Springs Provincial Park Designation

made under

Section 8 of the

Provincial Parks Act

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and

Forests dated the 6th day of June, A.D., 1972, pursuant to the provisions of

Section 2 of

Chapter 244 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1967, the Provincial Parks Act , is

pleased to

(

a) constitute all that area of land including land covered with water owned by Her

Majesty in right of the Province of Nova Scotia and situate at Salt Springs, County

of Pictou, Province of Nova Scotia, to be a Provincial Park, said area of land being

included within the boundaries of the lands described in

Schedule “A” and shown

outlined on the Plan of Survey marked

Schedule “B”, both

Schedule and Plan of

Survey attached to the report and recommendation; and

(

b) declare the name by which the park shall be known as “Salt Springs Provincial

Park”.

Schedule “A”

Salt Springs Provincial Park

All those certain lots, pieces or parcels of land situate, lying and being at Salt Springs, County

of Pictou, Province of Nova Scotia, shown as Lots “A”, “B” and “C” on plan number E-5-16 on

file at the Crown Land Registry Office, Department of Lands and Forests, Halifax and being

more particularly described as follows:

Lot “A”

Beginning at Crown Land iron post number 1636 situated on the southerly boundary of the

Trans Canada Highway and on the southwesterly edge of a brook;

Thence in an easterly and southeasterly direction following the southwesterly edge of the

aforementioned brook to a traverse point where the southwesterly edge of said brook intersects

the northwesterly edge of Eight Mile Brook, said traverse point being more specifically

described by the following traverse courses from aforementioned Crown Land iron post

number 1636, (by magnetic bearings) north eighty-eight degrees fifty-two minutes east, two

hundred twenty-two decimal sixty feet, south thirty-nine degrees fourteen minutes east, three

hundred eighty-two decimal ninety-two feet;

Thence in a southwesterly direction following the northwesterly edge of Eight Mile Brook to

where it enters or meets West River;

Thence continuing southwesterly along the northwesterly edge of West River to a point being

south thirty-nine degrees forty five minutes thirty-seven seconds west, one thousand three

hundred fifty decimal zero two feet from the last described traverse point;

Thence north thirty-six degrees thirteen minutes west, sixty-six feet more or less to Crown

Land iron post number 1637;

Thence continuing north thirty-six degrees thirteen minutes west, one thousand one hundred

ninety-five decimal three feet to Crown Land iron post number 1635 situated on the southerly

boundary of the Trans Canada Highway;

Thence along the southerly boundary of the Trans Canada Highway, north seventy-four

degrees forty-five minutes east, one thousand one hundred eighty-four decimal five feet to the

place of beginning containing twenty-five acres more or less;

Lot “B”

Beginning at Crown Land iron post number 1580, situated near the southeasterly edge of Eight

Mile Brook and being (by magnetic bearings 1971), south fifty-five degrees seven minutes east,

two hundred twenty-eight decimal thirty-nine feet from Nova Scotia Control Monument 7090;

From thence south seventy-eight degrees twenty-two minutes west, thirty-five feet more or less

or to the southeasterly edge of Eight Mile Brook;

Thence southwesterly along the southeasterly edge of Eight Mile Brook and then southerly

along the easterly edge of West River to a point being south nine degrees forty-two minutes

west, twenty feet more or less from Crown Land iron post number 1581, said post being more

specifically on the following traverse courses from aforementioned Crown Land iron post

number 1580: south thirty-four degrees fifty-two minutes west, one thousand one hundred

seventy-seven decimal fourteen feet, south sixteen degrees fifty-four minutes thirty seconds east,

four hundred fifty-three decimal nineteen feet;

Thence continuing along the northerly edge of West River in an easterly direction to a point;

Thence north four degrees forty-eight minutes west, twenty feet more or less to Crown Land

iron post number 1577, said post being north seventy-five degrees seven minutes east, one

thousand seven hundred sixty-eight decimal eleven feet from aforementioned Crown Land iron

post number 1581;

Thence continuing north four degrees forty-eight minutes west, six hundred decimal

twenty-three feet to Crown Land iron post number 1578 situated on the southwesterly boundary

of an old paved road;

Thence along the southwesterly boundary of said paved road north forty-one degrees thirty

minutes west, six hundred fifty-three decimal twenty feet to Crown Land iron post number

1579;

Thence south seventy-eight degrees twenty-two minutes west, six hundred ninety-nine decimal

seventeen feet to the place of beginning containing forty acres more or less;

Saving and reserving from the above described lands a Cemetery plot more particularly

described as follows:

Beginning at Crown Land iron post number 1583 said post being on a bearing from

aforementioned Crown Land iron post 1581 north four degrees thirty-eight minutes west, three

hundred fifty-six decimal ninety-nine feet;

From thence north seventy-nine degrees twelve minutes east, two hundred thirty decimal

thirty-nine feet to Crown Land iron post number 1584;

Thence north fifteen degrees twenty-three minutes west, one hundred twelve decimal forty-five

feet to Crown Land iron post number 1585;

Thence south seventy-six degrees forty-nine minutes west, two hundred fourteen decimal

thirty-three feet to Crown Land iron post number 1582;

Thence south six degrees forty-seven minutes east, one hundred three decimal thirty-six feet to

the place of beginning containing zero decimal fifty-five acres more or less;

Also saving and reserving , from the above described Lot “B” a twelve foot wide right-of-way

leading from the Trans Canada Highway to the Cemetery plot, being and intended to be the

existing lane or road used as access to the Cemetery, said lane described as following

approximately the following traverse:

Beginning at a point situated on the southern boundary of the Trans Canada Highway and

being south seventeen degrees twenty-four minutes west, thirty-five feet more or less from a

traverse point situated south seventy-five degrees seven minutes east, two hundred ninety

decimal sixty-nine feet from Nova Scotia Control Survey Monument number 7090;

From thence south seventeen degrees twenty-four minutes west, two hundred and seventeen

feet more or less to a traverse point;

Thence south twenty-one degrees twenty-one minutes thirty seconds west, one hundred

eighty-one decimal fifty feet;

Thence south fifty degrees twenty-one minutes thirty seconds west, two hundred ninety-six

decimal forty-feet;

Thence south eighteen degrees fifty-four minutes west, one hundred fifty-eight decimal eight

feet;

Thence south twelve degrees fifty-five minutes west, two hundred four decimal thirty-five feet

to Crown Land iron post number 1585 marking the northeast corner of the aforementioned

cemetery plot;

Thence south fifteen degrees twenty-three minutes east, one hundred twelve decimal forty-five

feet along the eastern boundary of the cemetery plot to Crown Land iron post number 1584,

said eastern boundary being and intended to be the last described course and the western

boundary of the herein described right-of-way containing in all zero decimal thirty-five acres

more or less.

Lot “C”

Beginning at Crown Land iron post number 1632 situated on the southerly edge of West River,

said post being (by magnetic bearings 1971) south nine degrees forty-two minutes west, one

hundred sixty-eight decimal six feet from aforementioned Crown Land iron post number 1581

described in Lot “B”;

From Thence south twenty-nine degrees twenty-two minutes east, eighty decimal five feet to

Crown Land iron post number 1633;

Thence south fifty-eight degrees thirty-three minutes west, two hundred seventy-seven decimal

seven feet to a point;

Thence south forty-five degrees two minutes west, two hundred fifty-six decimal five feet to a

point;

Thence south thirty-four degrees seven minutes west, two hundred thirty-six decimal four feet

to a point;

Thence south fifty-six degrees eight minutes west, one hundred fourteen decimal one feet to a

point;

Thence south fifty-four degrees fifty-nine minutes west, three hundred twenty-four decimal

three feet to a point;

Thence north forty-one degrees fourteen minutes west, two hundred two decimal seven feet to a

point;

Thence continuing north forty-one degrees fourteen minutes west, thirty decimal zero feet to a

point on the southeasterly edge of West River;

Thence northeasterly and southeasterly along the most southerly edge of West River to the

place of beginning containing eleven decimal five acres more or less.

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Natural

Resources dated the 10th day of February, A.D., 1993, pursuant to

Section 8(

a) and (

b) of

Chapter 367 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Provincial Parks Act , is pleased

to decrease by a total of 9.06 acres the size of Salt Springs Provincial Park, in the County of

Pictou, so constituted by Order in Council 72-611, dated the 13th day of June, A.D., 1972, by

approving the withdrawal from the park of approximately 9.06 acres of Crown land shown

outlined in red on the plan marked

Schedule “A”, attached to and forming part of the report and

recommendation, and to authorize the Minister of Natural Resources to execute such

documents as may be necessary to achieve the purposes of this Order.
