OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General dated April 6, 2006, and pursuant to

Section 3 of

Chapter 252 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Legal Aid Act, is pleased to: (

a) appoint Patrick J. Murray, Q.C., of Sydney, Cape Breton Regional Municipality, as a director of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission for a term of office of three years commencing April 28, 2006; (

b) provide that the remuneration of Patrick J. Murray, Q.C., as a director shall be at the rate of $150 for each day of meetings of the Commission or a committee of it, to a maximum of $600 for each fiscal year; (

c) direct that the reasonable travelling and living expenses incurred by Patrick J. Murray, Q.C., in performing the duties associated with the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission be paid in accordance with the established guidelines approved for civil servants; and (

d) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Patrick J. Murray, Q.C., and indemnify him from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of his activities in relation to his appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity, and where the Province so defends him, the Province will be in control of the case.
