OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice dated March 10, 2026, and pursuant to Sections 3 and 4 of
Chapter 252 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Legal Aid Act , is pleased to: (
a) appoint Lloyd Hogan of Cape Breton Regional Municipality and Hannah Rubenstein of Halifax Regional Municipality as part-time directors of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission, both for a term of three years commencing April 27, 2026; (
b) reappoint Walter Yeadon of Halifax Regional Municipality as a part-time director of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission for a term of three years commencing August 3, 2026; (
c) order that Lloyd Hogan, Hannah Rubenstein and Walter Yeadon be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling their duties as part-time directors provided that any such reimbursement does not exceed that normally payable to members of the civil service; and (
d) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Lloyd Hogan, Hannah Rubenstein, and Walter Yeadon, and indemnify them from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends, the Province will be in control of the case.
