WHEREAS it appears by Messages from His Honour H. A. “Bud” Olson, Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Alberta, and the Estimates accompanying the Messages, that the sums hereinafter mentioned are required to defray certain charges and expenses of the Legislative Assembly and the Public Service of Alberta not otherwise provided for during the fiscal year ending March 31, 1999, and for other purposes relating thereto: MAY IT THEREFORE PLEASE YOUR MAJESTY that it be enacted and

be it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, as follows: O perating expense 1(1) From the General Revenue Fund, there may be paid and applied a sum of $39 077 406 towards defraying the several charges and expenses of the Legislative Assembly classed as operating expense from April 1, 1998 to March 31, 1999, as shown in the Schedule.

(2) From the General Revenue Fund, there may be paid and applied a sum of $11 734 333 000 towards defraying the several charges and expenses of the Public Service classed as operating expense from April 1, 1998 to March 31, 1999, as shown in the Schedule. C apital investm ent 2(1) From the General Revenue Fund, there may be paid and applied a sum of $404 500 towards defraying the several charges and expenses of the Legislative Assembly classed as capital investment from April 1, 1998 to March 31, 1999, as shown in the Schedule. 1

(2) From the General Revenue Fund, there may be paid and applied a sum of $257 539 000 towards defraying the several charges and expenses of the Public Service classed as capital investment from April 1, 1998 to March 31, 1999, as shown in the Schedule. N on-budgetary disbursem ents 3 From the General Revenue Fund, there may be paid and applied a sum of $198 307 000 towards defraying the several charges and expenses of the Public Service classed as non-budgetary disbursements from April 1, 1998 to March 31, 1999, as shown in the Schedule.

Lottery Fund paym ents 4 From the Lottery Fund, there may be paid and applied a sum of $173 300 000 towards defraying the several charges and expenses of the Public Service classed as Lottery Fund payments from April 1, 1998 to March 31, 1999, as shown in the Schedule. Lottery Fund transfer 5 From the Lottery Fund, there shall be transferred the sum of $481 200 000 at any time during the period beginning April 1, 1998 and ending March 31, 1999 to the General Revenue Fund.

Intellectual Infrastructure P artnerships transfers 6(1) The Minister of Advanced Education and Career Development may transfer part of the operating expense vote administered by this Minister to the operating expense vote administered by any other Minister for the purpose referred to in subsection (2).

(2) An amount transferred under this

section shall be expended only on projects identified and approved by the Minister of Advanced Education and Career Development as being part of the program identified in the Estimates as the Intellectual Infrastructure Partnerships.

(3) An amount transferred under subsection (1) is deemed not to be included in the vote from which it is transferred; it is added to and deemed to be part of the operating expense vote to which it is transferred.
