OIC Text: The Governor in Council, on the report and recommendation of the Minister responsible for the Securities Act dated October 22, 2024, and pursuant to Sections 4 and 7 of
Chapter 418 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Securities Act , is pleased to: (
a) revoke the designation of Valerie Seager of Halifax Regional Municipality as Vice-chair of the Nova Scotia Securities Commission, made pursuant to Order in Council 2023-226 dated August 15, 2023, effective as of February 15, 2025; (
b) designate Valerie Seager of Halifax Regional Municipality as Chair of the Nova Scotia Securities Commission for the remainder of her term as member made pursuant to Order in Council 2022-106 dated April 26, 2022, commencing February 15, 2025, and ending on April 25, 2025; (
c) reappoint Valerie Seager of Halifax Regional Municipality as a member and designate her as Chair of the Nova Scotia Securities Commission for a term of five years commencing April 26, 2025; (
d) appoint Ryan Clements of Queens County and Jack Lessel of Halifax Regional Municipality as members of the Nova Scotia Securities Commission both for a term of five years commencing October 24, 2024; (
e) determine the compensation of the Chair of the Nova Scotia Securities Commission to be $104,619.88 per year (adjusted annually in accordance with any pay plan adjustments approved for non-bargaining civil servants for the 2024-25 and subsequent fiscal years), and that the Chair be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling duties as Chair, provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally payable to members of the civil service; and (
f) determine the remuneration for Ryan Clements and Jack Lessel be in the amount of $200 per half day, and that they be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling duties as members of the Nova Scotia Securities Commission, provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally payable to members of the civil service.
