OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations dated May 8, 2007, and pursuant to Sections 4 and 6 of

Chapter 301 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Municipal Finance Corporation Act, is pleased to: (

a) appoint Donald Zwicker, Municipality of the District of Lunenburg, and reappoint Keith Hunter, Municipality of the County of Cumberland, being the members recommended for appointment by the Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities, to the Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia Municipal Finance Corporation for three year terms effective July 1, 2007 and expiring on June 30, 2010; (

b) appoint Byron Rafuse, Controller in the Department of Finance for the Province, and reappoint Greg Keefe, Deputy Minister, Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations, as members of the Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia Municipal Finance Corporation for three year terms effective July 1, 2007 and expiring on June 30, 2010; (

c) reappoint Greg Keefe, Deputy Minister, Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations, as Chair of the Board for a three year term effective July 1, 2007 and expiring on June 30, 2010; (

d) determine the remuneration of members of the Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia Municipal Finance Corporation shall be as set out in Order in Council 79-1374 for members other than those in the full-time Public Service of the Province; and (

e) The province will defend, negotiate, or settle claims or charges made against a person appointed by the province to any agency or board, including board of directors of a corporation or commission, and indemnify them from personal liability, provided the selection of the person was at the sole discretion of the province and the province is satisfied the claim arises out of the person's activities in relation to the appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity. Wherever the province defends an appointee pursuant to the aforementioned, the province will be in control of the case.
