Statute: Shubenacadie Canal Commission Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Tourism and Culture dated June 6, 2002, and pursuant to

Section 4 of

Chapter 97 of the Acts of 1986,

An Act to Establish the Shubenacadie Canal Commission, is pleased to: (

a) pursuant to clause (1)(

e) and subsection (2) of

Section 4, reappoint Vivien Srivastava, PhD, of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a member of the Shubenacadie Canal Commission for a term of three years commencing June 28, 2002; (

b) pursuant to clause (1)(

e) of

Section 4, appoint the following persons as members of the Shubenacadie Canal Commission for a term of three years, commencing June 28, 2002: John F. O'Connor, MD, of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality; Doug English of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality; and (

c) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Vivien Srivastava, John F. O'Connor and Doug English and indemnify them from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointments and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
