Statute: Crop and Livestock Insurance Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture dated April 24, 2008, and pursuant to clause 7(1)(

d) of

Chapter 113 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Crop and Livestock Insurance Act, and Sections 2 and 3 of the Arbitration Proceedings Regulations, is pleased to: (

a) revoke the current appointment of Gabriel Comeau as a member of the Nova Scotia Crop and Livestock Insurance Arbitration Board made by Order in Council 2005-503 dated November 18, 2005 with expiry of November 18, 2008; (

b) appoint Gabriel Comeau of Truro, Colchester County, as a member and designate him as Chair of the Nova Scotia Crop and Livestock Insurance Arbitration Board for a term of three years effective May 13, 2008; (

c) determine the rate of remuneration for carrying out duties as Chair to be $150 per day; (

d) determine that reasonable expenses necessarily incurred by the Chair in carrying out board duties shall be paid in accordance with provincial government policy; (

e) determine that as a condition of appointment, Gabriel Comeau shall be bound by the principles and purposes of the Corporate Code of Conduct for Civil Servants and

Chapter 4 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1991, the Members and Public Employees Disclosure Act; and (

f) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate, or settle claims or charges made against Gabriel Comeau, and indemnify him from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of activities in relation to his appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends him, the Province will be in control of the case.
