OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Heritage dated May 12, 2005, and pursuant to

Section 10 of

Chapter 24 of the Acts of 1998, the Public Archives Act, is pleased to, effective June 21, 2005: (

a) appoint William Hastings Laurence of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Public Archives of Nova Scotia for a term of three years; (

b) appoint Dr. Bridglal Pachai of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Public Archives of Nova Scotia for a term of three years; and (

c) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against William Hastings Laurence and Dr. Bridglal Pachai of the Board of Trustees of the Public Archives and indemnify them from personal liability in connection with any such claim, provided, however, that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointment, and is not based on fraud or criminal activity, and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
