B.C. Reg. 59/2026 , deposited April 20, 2026, under the MOTOR VEHICLE ACT [section 209 (1) and (2)]. Order in Council 152/2026, approved and ordered April 20, 2026.

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, orders that the Motor Vehicle Act Regulations, B.C. Reg. 26/58, are amended as set out in the attached Schedule.

Schedule

Schedule 1 of Division 23 of the Motor Vehicle Act Regulations, B.C. Reg. 26/58, is amended by adding the following sign before the " TRUCK SIGNS (Regulatory) " signs:

Section 42.01 is amended

(

a) by repealing the definition of "electric motor vehicle" and substituting the following:

"electric motor vehicle" means one of the following:

(

a) a motor vehicle that has

(

i) an electric propulsion engine, and

(ii) a battery storage system that can be charged from an external electric charging system;

(

b) a motor vehicle that is propelled solely by an electric motor powered by a hydrogen fuel cell; , and

(

b) by adding the following definition:

"electric vehicle OK sign" means the "ELECTRIC VEHICLE OK" sign depicted and described in

Schedule 1 of Division 23; .

Section 42.02 (5) is amended by striking out " a traffic control device " and substituting " an electric vehicle OK sign ".
