OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General dated March 27, 2012, and pursuant to Sections 3 and 4 of
Chapter 252 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Legal Aid Act, is pleased, effective May 1, 2012 to: (
a) appoint George Ash of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a Director of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission for a term of three years; (
b) appoint Naiomi Metallic of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a Director of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission for a term of three years; (
c) provide that the remuneration of George Ash and Naiomi Metallic shall be at the rate of $150.00 for each day of meetings of the Commission or a committee of it, to a maximum of $600 for each fiscal year; (
d) direct that the reasonable expenses incurred by George Ash and Naiomi Metallic in performing their duties associated with the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission be paid in accordance with the guidelines approved for civil servants; and (
e) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against George Ash and Naiomi Metallic and indemnify them from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointments and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
