OIC Text: The Governor in Council, on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Public Works dated September 3, 2024, and pursuant to
Section 18 of
Chapter 371 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Highways Act, and
Section 80 of
Chapter 156 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Expropriation Act , is pleased to: (
a) extinguish the right of the public to use those portions of public highway, identified as Parcels U, V and Z, containing a combined area of 2,945.9 square metres (0.73 acres), more or less, located at or near Sheet Harbour, Halifax County, as shown on
Schedule “A” attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; (
b) authorize the conveyance of a parcel of surplus land, Parcel Z, containing an area of 1,814.9 square metres (0.45 acres), more or less, located at or near Sheet Harbour, Halifax County, as shown on
Schedule “A”, to Verdun Farris of Sheet Harbour, Halifax County, for the nominal consideration of $1.00; (
c) authorize the conveyance of two parcels of surplus land, Parcel U and Parcel Y, containing a combined area of 1,204.3 square metres (0.30 acres), more or less, located at or near Sheet Harbour, Halifax County, as shown on
Schedule “A”, to Verdun Farris of Sheet Harbour, Halifax County, for the nominal consideration of $1.00; (
d) authorize the conveyance of parcels of surplus land, Parcels V, W and X, containing a combined area of 1,224 square metres (0.30 acres), more or less, located at or near Sheet Harbour, Halifax County, as shown on
Schedule “A”, to Jeffrey and Julianne Hogg, both of Sheet Harbour, Halifax County, for the nominal consideration of $1.00; (
e) authorize the Minister of Public Works to make and execute Deeds of Conveyance in such forms as the Minister determines to effect the conveyance of the lands herein above described; and (
f) authorize the Minister of Public Works to execute such documents as may be necessary to achieve the purposes of this Order.
