Establishment of the New Norway East Drainage District

WHEREAS a petition was made under

section 5(1) of the Drainage Districts

Act, R.S.A. 2000, c. D-16 (the "Act") for the establishment of the New Norway East

Drainage District;

WHEREAS, in accordance with the Drainage Council's bylaws, a vote of

landowners was held on March 23, 2026, at which more than two thirds of those

voting were in favour of the formation of the drainage district and the first board of

trustees was elected;

section 8 of

WHEREAS: A sudden cardiac arrest is a medical emergency that can happen to

anyone, at any time, no matter a person's level of fitness or health;

WHEREAS: The chances of survival after a cardiac arrest are greatly increased

if quick action is taken by bystanders, such as calling 9-1-l, performing

cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and/or using an automated external defibrillator

(AED);

AND

WHEREAS: CPR is the emergency lifesaving act of doing chest compressions

to manually help the heart pump during cardiac arrest;

AND

WHEREAS: The Government of Alberta commends the efforts of organizations

working to raise awareness and reduce preventable deaths from sudden cardiac arrest.

Polyneuropathy Awareness Month

WHEREAS: Guillain-Barr Syndrome (GBS), Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating

Polyneuropathy (CIDP) and their variants are rare disorders affecting people of all

ages, genders, and ethnic backgrounds;

AND

WHEREAS: The cause of these disorders is not completely understood, and

recovery can be unpredictable with varying residual effects;

AND

WHEREAS: The Government of Alberta is committed to providing appropriate

supports and services to meet Albertans' health care needs, including individuals

living with GBS/CIDP;

AND

WHEREAS: The Government of Alberta commends the GBS/CIDP Foundation

of Canada for their ongoing support of patients and families living with GBS/CIDP

and variants by providing supports, advocacy and education; raising awareness; and

supporting research.

THEREFORE: I, Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Primary and Preventative Health

WHEREAS: Sepsis is a life-threatening illness caused by the body's overreaction to

an infection that can affect anyone and, if not recognized and treated promptly, may

lead to shock, multiple organ failure, death, or long-term disability;

AND

WHEREAS: Early signs of sepsis may include fever, a rapid heart rate, and fast

breathing that can affect vital organs and cause symptoms such as shortness of breath,

reduced urine output, dizziness, or changes in mental status, including confusion,

agitation, or extreme drowsiness;

AND

WHEREAS: Many individuals diagnosed with sepsis require care in intensive

care units, placing a considerable and ongoing burden on the health care system and

contributing to substantial health care costs in Canada;

AND

WHEREAS: The Government of Alberta recognizes the ongoing efforts of

organizations and researchers dedicated to advancing the understanding of sepsis, and

improving its prevention, early detection, and treatment.

THEREFORE: I, Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Primary and Preventative Health

Services, pursuant to

section 3(1)(

a) of the Special Days Act, hereby declare

September 13 as World Sepsis Day in perpetuity in the Province of Alberta.

Multiple Myeloma Awareness Month

that develops in the plasma cells found in the bones;

WHEREAS: While the causes of myeloma are not fully understood, research

suggests it may be related to weakened immune function, genetic factors, and

environmental exposures;

WHEREAS: An increasing number of Canadians are being diagnosed with

myeloma each year and advances in research and treatment are helping people live

longer and healthier lives without a cure;

AND

WHEREAS: The Government of Alberta commends the ongoing efforts of

organizations committed to supporting individuals living with myeloma through

advocacy, education, and research.

Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month

WHEREAS: Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a rare, chronic, progressive lung disease

characterized by the scarring and thickening of lung tissue;

WHEREAS: As the most common form of PF, idiopathic PF has a high

mortality rate, primarily affecting adults over the age of 50 and occurring more

frequently in males, in rural versus urban areas, with no known cure;

AND

WHEREAS: The Government of Alberta is committed to providing appropriate

supports and services to meet Albertans' health care needs, including individuals

living with PF;

AND

WHEREAS: Alberta's government commends the Canadian Pulmonary

Fibrosis Foundation for their ongoing support of patients and families living with PF

by providing supports, advocacy and education; raising awareness; and supporting

research.
