In general terms, the pu rpose of Municipal Plan Amendment Number 62, 2006 is to add a general land use policy regarding landscaping requirements in the City. This policy would enable Council to provide a framework for the regulation of landscaping in the Development Regulations. section to the general devel opment standards,

TAKE NOTICE that the City of Mount Pearl Development Regulations Amendment Numb er 165, 2006, adopted by Council on the 2 nd day of May, 2006, has been registered by the Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs. In general terms, the purpose of Development Regulations Amendment Number 165, 2006 is to clarify the height of accessory buildings in re sidential use zones. The amendment to the Developmen t Regulations modifies the conditions pertaining to the height of accessory buildings in all residential land use tables in

Schedule C of the Development Regulations. Th e height restriction is modified to permit a slightly higher structure (a maximum height of 4.5 m measured from the floor level to the roof ridge), and additional conditions are added. The Mount Pearl Municipal Pl an Amendment Number 62, 2006, Development Regulations Amendment Number 162, 2006, and Development Regulat ions Amendment Number 165, 2006 come into effect on the day that this notice is published in The Newfoundland & Labrador Gazette.

Section 111 of the Mines Safety of Workers Regulations is repealed and the following substituted: 111.

(1) In this

section "commissi on" means the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission established under the Work- place Health, Safety and Compensation Act. CNLR 1145/96 Training for rescue equipment

(2) The operator and manager of a mine shall cause such work- ers and supervisors to be trained in the use and maintenance of mine rescue equipment as the commissi on considers necessary and the course of training to be followed shall be one approved by the commis- sion.

(3) The operator of a mine sha ll provide and maintain the mine rescue equipment as the chief insp ector considers necessary and this equipment shall be stored at an approved location.

(4) The manager of a mine shall be responsible for the supervi- sion and direction of mine rescue crews in all mine rescue and recovery operations conducted at the mine.

(5) The manager of a mine shall immediately notify the chief inspector of circumstances necessitating rescue and recovery operations conducted by rescue crews wearing masks or self-contained breathing apparatus.

(6) Each person completing an approved course in the use and maintenance of mine rescue equipment may present himself or herself for examination as to his or her competency before an examination board consisting of an employee of or a person appointed for the pur- pose by the commission and an official of the mine at which he or she is employed.

(7) The commission may issue a cer tificate of mine rescue train- ing to each person complying with the requirements of the examination board referred to in subsection (6). ©Earl G. Tucker, Queen's Printer
