An Act to amend The Judicature Act (Assented to , 1970) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta, enacts as follows: 1. The Judicature Act is hereby amended. 2. The following

section is added after

section 38a: 38b.

(1) A council comprised of the judges of the Supreme Court shall, at least once in every year upon a day fixed by the Chief Justice of Alberta, and of which he shall cause notice to be given the judges, assemble for the purpose of considering the operation of this Act and the Alberta Rules of Court, the working of the offices of, and the arrangements governing the performance of duties by, the officers of the Court, and of inquiring into and examining any defects that appear to exist in the procedure or the administration of justice in any court or other authority.

(2) The council shall report its recommendations to the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

(3) An extraordinary council meeting may be convened by the Lieutenant Governor in Council at any time to con sider the matters mentioned in subsection (1) or any of them. 3. This Act comes into force on the day upon which it is assented to. Explanatory Notes I. This Bill amends
