OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Finance dated July 13, 2000, pursuant to

Section 20 of

Chapter 377 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Superannuation Act, is pleased to determine that, effective January 1, 2000, (

a) all eligible employees of the Employer, the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board, with the exception of those employees who are members of the Teachers' Pension Plan, are deemed to be persons employed in the public service of the Province for all purposes of the Public Service Superannuation Act and service as such an employee is deemed to be service in the public service of the Province; (

b) the Employer shall deduct from the salary of such employees such amount as is directed by the Governor in Council to be deducted from the salary of employees in the public service of the Province and shall pay the same to the Minister of Finance, and such amounts when so received shall be paid into and form part of the Public Service Superannuation Fund established pursuant to the Public Service Superannuation Act; (

c) where by the Public Service Superannuation Act a payment is required to be made into the Public Service Superannuation Fund by the Minister of Finance or where by that Act the superannuation allowance or other sum is directed to be paid out of the Consolidated Fund of the Province, then in respect of such employee, the payment, superannuation allowance or other sum shall be paid by the Employer and shall form part of the annual expenses of the Employer; and (

d) at the option of the eligible employees of the Employer, the service of such employees prior to January 1, 2000 be recognized as pensionable service provided that there is paid into the Public Service Superannuation Fund by or on behalf of such employees an amount or amounts equal to the actuarial cost of such service as determined by the Minister of Finance.
