Section 1 of the Police Act,

chapter P-9.2 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1977, is amended by repealing the definition “member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police” and substituting the following: 1 L’article 1 de la

Definitions Définitions 24.1 The following

definitions apply in this Part. 24.1 Les définitions qui suivent s’appliquent à la pré- sente partie. “intimate partner violence” means intimate partner vi- olence as defined in the Intimate Partner Violence Inter- vention Act. (violence entre partenaires intimes) « agent impliqué » S’entend de l’une des personnes ci-après lorsqu’elle fait l’objet d’une enquête sur un inci- dent grave ou lorsque ses actes ont pu entraîner un tel in- cident : 1

“investigative body” means an entity whose authority includes the power to investigate a serious incident. (or- ganisme d’enquête) “serious incident” means any death, serious injury, sexual assault or act of intimate partner violence involv- ing a subject officer or any other matter involving a sub- ject officer that is determined to be in the public interest to be investigated. (incident grave) “subject officer” means any of the following persons who is the subject of an investigation of a serious inci- dent or whose actions may have resulted in a serious in- cident: (

a) a member of a police force; (

b) a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Po- lice; (

c) an auxiliary police constable; and (

d) an appointee as defined in the Cross-Border Po- licing Act. (agent impliqué)

(intimate partner violence) Agreements respecting investigations Accords concernant les enquêtes 24.2(1) The Minister may enter into an agreement with any of the following persons or entities for the purpose of ensuring that an investigative body conducts investi- gations of serious incidents: 24.2(1) Le ministre peut, afin de veiller à ce que les in- cidents graves fassent l’objet d’une enquête conduite par un organisme d’enquête, conclure un accord avec les personnes ou entités suivantes : (

a) the Government of Canada or any of its agen- cies;

summary Résumé d’enquête 24.3(1) The investigative body shall provide the Min- ister with an investigation

summary that contains the in- formation prescribed by regulation within the period pre- scribed by regulation. 24.3(1) L’organisme d’enquête remet au ministre un résumé d’enquête renfermant les renseignements pres- crits par règlement dans le délai qui y est imparti. 24.3(2) The Minister shall cause the investigation

summary to be made available to the public in the form and manner prescribed by regulation. 24.3(2) Le ministre rend le résumé public en la forme et de la manière prescrites par règlement. Annual report Rapport annuel 24.4(1) The investigative body shall, within the period prescribed by regulation, provide the Minister with an annual report that contains the following information: 24.4(1) L’organisme d’enquête remet au ministre dans le délai imparti par règlement un rapport annuel renfer- mant les renseignements suivants : (

a) the number of investigations started and con- cluded in the year;

b) the nature of each investigation;

d) the number of charges laid against subject offi- cers in the year;

e) any administrative or financial information that the Minister requires; and

Section 38 of the Act is amended by adding after paragraph (

section 24.3, prescribing the information that an investigation

summary shall contain, the period within which the investigation

summary shall be provided to the Minister and the form and manner in which an investigation
