Explanatory Note General. This Bill amends

chapter 142 of the Revised Statutes to authorize the Lieutenant Governor in Council to fix interest rates on loans by regulation. 4. Commencement of Act.

BILL No. 129 of 1965

An Act to amend The Homestead Lease Loan Act (Assented to , 1965) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta, enacts as follows: 1. The Homestead Lease Loan Act is hereby amended.

Section 6 is repealed.

Section 16 ,is amended (a) 'by striking out the word "and" at the end,.of clause (d) , (

b) by relettering: :clause (

e) as clause (

g) and by adding the foll(}wing clauses after clause (d): (

e) prescribe the payment of interest at any rate not exceeding six per cent per annum on money payable by any person under a loan granted by the Minister, (/) prescribe the payment of interest at any rate not exceeding six per cent per annum on money payable under any loan granted by the Minister that is not paid within one month from the date it is due, and 4. This Act comes into force on the day upon which it is assented to.
