Harrington Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

O.I.C. 78-1035 (September 5, 1978), N.S. Reg. 178/78

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and

Forests dated the 28th day of August, A.D., 1978, pursuant to

Section 5(1) of

Chapter 6 of the

Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act , is pleased to

designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of

Harrington Beach, in the County of Colchester, Province of Nova Scotia, as shown outlined in

red on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-11-10 marked

described in

Schedule “A”, both attached to and forming part of the report and

recommendation.

Schedule “A”

All that certain area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Harrington

Beach, in the County of Colchester, Province of Nova Scotia as shown outlined in red on the

copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-11-10, attached hereto and marked

“B” and being more particularly described as follows:

Beginning at an Iron Post, situate where the westerly boundary of a sixty-six foot road leading

to public highway Route No. 2, intersects the mean high watermark of the Minas Basin, said

Iron Post being south ten degrees thirty-two minutes thirty-two seconds west a distance of one

thousand five hundred sixty-five decimal sixty-one feet from Nova Scotia Control Monument

No. 12664 having co-ordinate values (N 16, 503, 663.19, E 1, 103, 675.21);

From thence (by grid bearings based on the Nova Scotia 3° Transverse Mercator Projection,

Zone 5, Central Meridian 64° 30' west longitude) south zero degrees fifty-five minutes

forty-five seconds west, a distance of four hundred thirty-nine decimal sixty-five feet to an Iron

Post, said Iron Post being south twenty-four degrees one minute forty-eight seconds east, a

distance of three thousand eighty-one decimal zero nine feet from Nova Scotia Control

Monument No. 12665 having co-ordinate values (N 16, 504, 498.47, E 1, 102, 127.05);

Thence continuing south zero degrees fifty-five minutes forty-five seconds west, a distance of

fifty feet, more or less, to a point on the mean high watermark of the Minas Basin;

Thence in a northwesterly, southeasterly and northerly direction along the mean high

watermark of the Minas Basin, a distance of one thousand two hundred feet, more or less, to the

place of beginning.
