Notice of Receipt of a Repatriation Application

(Blackfoot First Nations Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation Regulation)

Pursuant to the First Nations Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation Act

(FNSCORA) and the Blackfoot First Nations Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation

Regulation made under that Act, the Province of Alberta as represented by the

Minister of Culture hereby gives notice of receipt of a repatriation application from a

member of the Blood Tribe for an object in the Government of Alberta's collections

at the Royal Alberta Museum.

The application is for the repatriation of a Pipe (H66.107.2 A-

B) originating with the

Blood Tribe. The Pipe originated with the Brave Dog Leader's Bundle and was

purchased by the Royal Alberta Museum in1966.

Any person with an interest in these objects, who either wishes to make written

representations to the Minister relating to this application or to submit an application

of their own, must do so within 30 days after publication of this notice in The Alberta

Gazette. For further information, an interested person should contact the Aboriginal

Liaison Officer at the Royal Alberta Museum, 12845-102 Avenue, Edmonton,

Alberta T5N 0M6. The Aboriginal Liaison Officer can also be reached by telephone

Repatriation of the above objects to the Mookaakin Heritage Foundation, as the

designated representative of the Blood Tribe, may proceed after the 30 day period if

the object listed in the application is determined to meet the criteria of a sacred

ceremonial object as defined in FNSCORA, no additional applications or contrary

written representations have been made, and if the Minister considers repatriation to

be appropriate.

Schedule 8 to the Alberta Fishery Regulations,

Variation Order 27-2012 by the Director of Fisheries Management in accordance with

section 3 of the Alberta Fishery Regulations, 1998.

Where fishing with gill nets is permitted during an open season established by the
