Short title

This Notice may be cited as the Department of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills Notice.

Definitions

In this Notice

(a)

"department" means, unless the context indicates otherwise, the Department of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills; and

(b)

"minister" means, unless the context indicates otherwise, the Minister of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills.

Departmental structure

(1)The department was restructured by Order in Council 2021-135.

(2) The department is presided over by the minister.

(3) The department has 3 branches, as follows:

(

a) Immigration and Population Growth;

(

b) Employment and Labour Market Development; and

(

c) Corporate Services and Policy.

Powers and duties of the minister

The powers, functions and duties of the minister include the supervision, control and direction of all matters relating to

(

a) the provision of employment and career programs and services to assist individuals to compete for, attain and retain employment;

(

b) assistance

for individuals to obtain training, licensure, certification and qualifications required to enter, remain and advance in the workforce, including for apprentices, trade qualifiers and journeypersons;

(

c) skills development programming, including training and services provided under the Labour Market Transfer Agreement;

(

d) recruitment and retention planning and provision of labour

market information and trend analysis on labour

market opportunities to individuals and employers, including workforce attraction initiatives;

(

e) nclusive population growth;

(

f) the nomination and endorsement of eligible newcomers for permanent residency, engagement with employers and community groups on matters related to immigration and provision of recruitment, settlement, integration and retention supports; and

(

g) the promotion of multiculturalism awareness and diversity,

which are not, or in so far as they are not, the responsibility of another minister, agency, body, corporation, board, organization or person.

Administration of Acts

(1) The minister has sole responsibility for the administration of the Acts set out in

Schedule A and of all orders and regulations passed or made under those Acts, including those powers, functions or duties necessary or desirable for carrying out the purposes of those Acts.

(2) The minister and the minister of the department indicated in

Schedule B share responsibility for the administration of the Act set out in

Schedule B and of the orders and regulations passed or made under that Act, including those powers, functions or duties necessary or desirable for carrying out the purposes of that Act.

(3) The minister has secondary responsibility for the administration of the Act set out in

Schedule B.
