OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture dated June 12, 2018, and pursuant to Sections 25, 26, and 27 of

Chapter 25 of the Acts of 1996, the Fisheries and Coastal Resources Act , is pleased to: (

a) appoint Wayne Gaudet of Church Point, Digby County, as a member and designate him as Vice-chair of the Nova Scotia Fisheries and Aquaculture Loan Board for a three-year term, commencing August 7, 2018; (

b) determine that Wayne Gaudet be remunerated for his service as Vice-chair in the amount of $100 per day and that he be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling his duties as Vice-chair, provided that any such reimbursement does not exceed that normally payable to members of the civil service; (

c) reappoint Claude Poirier of Cheticamp, Inverness County, as a member of the Nova Scotia Fisheries and Aquaculture Loan Board for a two-year term, commencing August 7, 2018; (

d) determine that Claude Poirier be remunerated for his service as a member in the amount of $100 per day and that he be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling his duties as a member, provided that any such reimbursement does not exceed that normally payable to members of the civil service; and (

e) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Wayne Gaudet and Claude Poirier in their capacity as members of the Nova Scotia Fisheries and Loan Board and indemnify them from personal liability in connection with any such claims, provided, however, that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and, where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
