Preamble

March 17, 2020, an emergency was declared in Ontario under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act due to the

COVID-19 pandemic. Second and third emergencies were declared on January 12,

2021 and April 7, 2021.

Ontario’s

front-line and essential service workers played a vital role in maintaining the

flow and delivery of goods and services throughout each state of emergency and

they continue to be a crucial part of the province’s economic recovery.

Therefore,

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of

the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

Front-line

and Essential Service Worker Week

The

third full week of March in each year is proclaimed as Front-line and Essential

Service Worker Week.

Commencement

This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

title

The

short title of this Act is the Front-line and

Essential Service Worker Week Act, 2021 .
