a) effective July 1, 2001, the land described in Appendix A and shown on the sketch in Appendix B is separated from Lacombe County and annexed to the Town of Bentley,

(

b) any taxes owing to Lacombe County at the end of June 30, 2001 in respect of the annexed land are transferred to and become payable to the Town of Bentley together with any lawful penalties and costs levied in respect of those taxes, and the Town of Bentley upon collecting those taxes, penalties or costs must pay them to Lacombe County, and

(

c) the assessor for the Town of Bentley must assess, for the purpose of taxation in 2002, the annexed land and the assessable improvements to it.

the Andreas Michelsen Farmstead comprised of the Farmhouse, Coal Shed, Barn, Granary, Calving Shed, Machine Shed, Corrals and Pens, Dugout Storage Cellar, Landscape elements (gardens and trees), Cistern and Filter, Fences, and Outhouse, together with the land legally described as:

be designated as a Provincial Historic Resource under

The reasons for the designation are as follows:

Established in 1902, the Michelsen Farmstead is a typical Mormon farmstead and represents the larger Mormon Settlement pattern found in Stirling, Southern Alberta and parts of the American West.

The Michelsen Farmstead constitutes part of a number of vintage structures in Stirling, which was recognized in 1989 by Heritage Canada as being the best preserved surviving example of the distinctive settlement pattern associated with Mormon settlement areas in the dry-land farming district of Southern Alberta and was granted recognition as a National Historic Site.

The historical significance of the Michelsen Farmstead lies in its structural representation of an early Mormon settlement in Southern Alberta. The buildings are also an important example of an early homestead in general, and part of the early district of Stirling. It also provides structural evidence of the Michelsen family which remains a prominent element in the Stirling district and elsewhere in south-western Alberta.

Constructed in 1906, the M & J Hardware Building is a commercial structure typical of the first quarter of the twentieth century. Dominant cornice work, a prominent pediment sign, descriptive urns and the gently arched and key-stoned windows, are among the Classical Revival details on this typical "main street" structure. Though lacking in a definite architectural style, this small scale commercial block is eclectic in nature and adheres to the basic compositional patterns common to the downtown core of small communities throughout the province.

The historical significance of the M & J Hardware Building lies in its association with the commercial development of Lacombe, and its service to its agricultural hinterland. It is also closely associated with the development of the community, being the business operation of one of Lacombe's most influential and longest serving residents.

It is therefore considered that the preservation and protection of the resource is in the public interest.

St. Mary's School, constructed in 1909 in Calgary's Mission district is both the first and oldest purpose built Catholic School in the city. The school itself was established in 1885 and its early history is closely linked with that of the Roman Catholic community in the area. The historical significance of the St. Mary's School lies in its association with the Francophone community in south Calgary which was prominent prior to the turn of the century, but which was quickly submerged during the boom years prior to World War 1.

It is also significant in its representation of Calgary's enormous growth at this time and is one of few girls' schools to have operated in Alberta during the early part of the 20th century. The St. Mary's School is a symbol of early religious educational institutions in the city and the province. The school remains as prominent landmark within the religious enclave to the "Mission District".

It is therefore considered that the preservation and protection of the resource is in the public interest.

Part 1 of the consolidated Fund and may only be paid out pursuant to a General Council Policy.

2. The purpose of this Policy is to allocate certain portions of the Resource Revenues to General Council in order to fund a portion of its 2001/2002 budget.

3. Pursuant to

section 8.3(2) of the General Council Rules and Procedures, this Policy shall constitute an urgent Policy.

1.2 DEFINITION

In this Policy, terms defined in the Metis Settlements Act (the "Act") have the same meaning when used in this Policy.

1.3 MONEY AVAILABLE FOR ALLOCATION

The money available for allocation out of Overriding Royalty Revenue held in

Part 1 of the Consolidated Fund in the financial year 2001/2002 is $1,253,062.00.

1.4 ALLOCATION

The $1,253,062.00 available for allocation is to be allocated for the General Council's 2001/2002 budget.

1.5 REIMBURSEMENT OF ACCORD DOLLARS
