Mira River Provincial Park Designation

made under

Section 8 of the

Provincial Parks Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 367

O.I.C. 84-679 (June 12, 1984), N.S. Reg. 113/84

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and

Forests dated the 22nd day of May, A.D., 1984, pursuant to

Section 2 of

Chapter 244 of the

Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1967, the Provincial Parks Act , and the

Interpretation Act , is

pleased to:

(

a) rescind Order in Council No. 72- 86 dated the 25th day of January, A.D.,

1972, which Order constituted an area of land at Albert Bridge, Mira River, in

the County of Cape Breton, to be a Provincial Park to be known as “Mira

River Provincial Park”;

(

b) constitute all that area of land situate at Albert Bridge, in the County of Cape

Breton, owned by Her Majesty the Queen in Right of the Province of Nova

Scotia, to be a Provincial Park, the said area of land being described in

Schedule “C” and shown outlined in red on the copy of Crown Land Records

Plan No. E-8-15B marked

Schedule “D”, both Schedules being attached to and

forming part of the report and recommendation; and

(

c) declare that the park shall be known by the name of “Mira River Provincial

Park”.

Schedule “C”

All those certain two areas of land situate, lying and being at Mira River in the vicinity of

Albert Bridge, County of Cape Breton, Province of Nova Scotia, said two areas of land are

designated as Lot “A” and Lot “B” on plan number E-8-15B on file in the Crown Land Registry

Office, Department of Lands and Forests, Halifax, Nova Scotia,. said Lot “A” and Lot:’B”

being more particularly described as follows:

Lot “A”

Beginning at a point designated as Stake “A” situated on the northerly boundary of Brickyard

Road so-called, said point being also situated on the easterly boundary of a brook running into

Smelt Cove on the Mira River;

From thence in a southwesterly direction following the northerly boundary of Brickyard Road

1180 feet more or less to a point designated as Stake “B” on the easterly boundary of lands now

or formerly of Dan Ferguson;

Thence (by astronomic bearing) N 34° 15' W, 151.8 feet more or less following the easterly

boundary of lands now or formerly of Dan Ferguson to a point designated as Stake “C” situated

on the southerly boundary of the Mira River;

Thence following the many courses of the ordinary high water mark of the Mira River in a

generally westerly, northerly, easterly and southerly direction around a peninsula of land, a

distance of approximately 28,500 feet to a point where the ordinary high water mark intersects

the easterly boundary of the aforementioned brook running into Smelt Cove;

Thence southwesterly following, the easterly boundary of the said brook, 100 feet more or less

to the place of beginning, containing 212 acres more or less.

Lot “B”

Comprising a small island lying 150 feet more or less northeasterly from the extreme

northeasterly tip of Lot “A”, containing 1 acre more or less.
