Christies Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

O.I.C. 77-873 (July 19, 1977), N.S. Reg. 67/77

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and

Forests dated the 13th day of June, A.D., 1977, pursuant to

Section 5(1) of

Chapter 6 of the

Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act , is pleased to

designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Christies

Beach, in the County of Cape Breton, Province of Nova Scotia, as shown outlined in red on the

copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-10-82, marked

Schedule “B” and described in

Schedule “A”, both attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation.

Schedule “A”

All that certain area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Christies Beach

situate at Bras d’Or, in the County of Cape Breton, in the Province of Nova Scotia as shown

outlined in red on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-10-82, attached hereto

and being more particularly described as follows:

Beginning at iron post No. 1 situate north thirty-three degrees forty-seven minutes zero zero

seconds west, two hundred eighty-nine decimal one three feet from Nova Scotia Control

Monument No. 1470;

From thence (by grid bearings based on the Nova Scotia Three Degree Transverse Mercator

Projection, Zone 4, Central Meridian sixty-one degrees thirty minutes west longitude) south

twenty-two degrees ten minutes fifty seconds west, five hundred eight decimal eight one feet to

iron post No. 2;

Thence south five degrees six minutes fifty seconds west, one hundred fifteen decimal five four

feet to iron post No. 3;

Thence south thirty-four degrees thirty-five minutes twenty seconds west, four hundred seventy

decimal zero five feet to iron post No. 4 situate north twenty-eight degrees thirty-eight minutes

twenty seconds west, two hundred seventy-seven decimal four eight feet from Nova Scotia

Control Monument No. 1659;

Thence north fifty-four degrees fifty-nine minutes thirty seconds west, forty-three feet to a

point situate on the mean high watermark of St. Andrew’s Channel;

Thence in a northeasterly direction following the various courses of the mean high watermark

of St. Andrew’s Channel, eleven hundred feet, more or less, to a point;

Thence south forty-one degrees fifty-eight minutes twenty seconds east, seventy-one feet to the

place of beginning.
