OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated August 31, 2021, and pursuant to Sections 2A, 3, 4 and 4D of

Chapter 376 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Act , is pleased, effective August 31, 2021, to: (

a) direct that the Department of Labour and Advanced Education be renamed the Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration; (

b) assign all affairs and matters relating to immigration and population growth which have heretofore been assigned by or under any Act of the Legislature to the Office of Immigration and Population Growth or the Minister of Immigration and Population Growth to the Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration or the Minister of Labour, Skills and Immigration, as the case may be; (

c) abolish the Office of Immigration and Population Growth; (

d) create a department and prescribe the name of the department as the Department of Advanced Education; (

e) direct that the department shall be presided over by the Minister of Advanced Education who has the supervision, direction and control of all affairs and matters relating to the department and who shall supervise the performance of the functions of the department; and (

f) assign all affairs and matters relating to post-secondary education, including financial assistance for students undertaking post-secondary education which have heretofore been assigned by or under any Act of the Legislature to the Department of Labour and Advanced Education or the Minister of Labour and Advanced Education to the Department of Advanced Education or the Minister of Advanced Education, as the case may be.
