Statute: Crop and Livestock Insurance Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture dated July 6, 2006, and pursuant to clause 7(1)(

d) of

Chapter 113 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Crop and Livestock Insurance Act, and Sections 2 and 3 of the Arbitration Proceedings Regulations, is pleased to: (

a) appoint Hobartson Wedderburn of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a member of the Nova Scotia Crop and Livestock Insurance Arbitration Board for a term of three years, commencing August 1, 2006 and ending July 31, 2009; (

b) determine the rate of remuneration for carrying out duties as a member to be $100 per day; (

c) determine that reasonable expenses necessarily incurred by the member in carrying out board duties shall be paid in accordance with Provincial Government policy; (

d) determine that as a condition of appointment, Hobartson Wedderburn shall be bound by the principles and purposes of the Corporate Code of Conduct for Civil Servants and

Chapter 4 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1991, the Members and Public Employees Disclosure Act; (

e) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Hobartson Wedderburn, and indemnify him from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of activities in relation to his appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends him, the Province will be in control of the case.
