Cheverie Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

O.I.C. 77-125 (February 8, 1977), N.S. Reg. 21/77

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and

Forests dated the 7th day of January, A.D., 1977, pursuant to

Section 5(1) of

Chapter 6 of the

Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act , is pleased to

designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Cheverie

Beach, in the County of Hants, Province of Nova Scotia, as shown outlined in red on the copy

of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-10-10, marked

Schedule “B”, and described in

Schedule “A”, both attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation.

Schedule “A”

All that certain area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Cheverie Beach,

in the County of Hants, Province of Nova Scotia as shown outlined in red on the copy of

Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-10-10, attached hereto and being more particularly

described as follows:

Beginning at iron post # 1 as shown on said plan E-10-10, said iron post being placed on the

top of the bank approximately thirty feet behind the high water line of the Minas Basin and

being on an astronomic bearing of north eleven degrees twelve minutes zero zero seconds east,

three thousand nine hundred seventy-three decimal nine two feet from point “A” as shown on

aforementioned plan E-10-10, said point “A” being the intersection of the westerly boundary of

Highway 15 with the centreline of Cheverie Creek;

From thence (by astronomic bearings) east to a point one hundred feet from and perpendicular

to the high waterline of the Minas Basin;

Thence generally southerly and southwesterly, following the sinuosites [sinuosities] of a line

one hundred feet from and parallel to the high waterline of the Minas Basin to its intersection

with a line drawn on a course south forty-three degrees fifty-five minutes zero nine seconds

west from the point of beginning;

Thence north forty-three degrees fifty-five minutes zero nine seconds east to iron post # 2

placed approximately thirty feet behind the high waterline of the Minas Basin;

Thence continuing forty-three degrees fifty-five minutes zero nine seconds east, seven

thousand two hundred sixty-one decimal seven three feet to the place of beginning.

Excepting and reserving from the above described area of land all the portion thereof lying

seaward from the mean high watermark.
