Explanatory Note General. An order in council in 1958 established a Commercial Fisheries Branch under the Department of Lands and Forests, and designated the chief officer of that Branch as the Superintendent of Commercial Fisheries. The purpose of this administrative change is to separate the administration of commercial fishing from sport fishing and game. Heretofore, commercial fishing came within the administrative supervision of the Fish and Game Commissioner, who is appointed under The Game Act. This amending Bill changes the references to the Fish and Game Commissioner to the new Superintendent of Commercial Fisheries.
