WES McLEAN 1 BILL Organ and Tissue Donation Strategy Act WHEREAS organ and tissue donation from eligible indi- viduals to eligible recipients is necessary for saving and prolonging life; WHEREAS organ donation is changing lives for the bet- ter in Canada and around the world; and WHEREAS education is key to promoting awareness, and awareness can lead to greater numbers of individuals con- senting to organ and tissue donation; THEREFORE, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows: 1 Within one year after the coming into force of this Act, the Minister of Health shall table in the Legislative As- sembly an Organ and Tissue Donation Strategy which in- cludes: (

a) results of collaboration with essential stakehold- ers, including but not limited to the Canadian Blood Services, the Canadian Transplant Association and the New Brunswick Medical Society; (

b) strengthened public awareness materials, includ- ing but not limited to enhanced availability of informa- tion on the websites of Service New Brunswick and the Department of Health, and of materials within schools, PROJET DE LOI

Loi sur une stratégie pour le don d’organes et de tissus Attendu : que le don d’organes et de tissus de donneur admissible à receveur admissible est nécessaire pour sauver et prolon- ger la vie; que le don d’organes améliore la qualité de vie au Canada et dans le monde; que l’éducation est essentielle à la sensibilisation, laquelle peut amener un plus grand nombre de personnes à consen- tir au don d’organes et de tissus, Sa Majesté, sur l'avis et avec le consentement de l’Assem- blée législative du NouveauBrunswick, édicte: 1 Dans les douze mois qui suivent l’entrée en vigueur de la présente loi, le ministre de la Santé déposera à l’Assem- blée législative une stratégie pour le don d’organes et de tissus, comprenant :

a) les résultats d’une collaboration avec les interve- nants clés, y compris notamment la Société canadienne du sang, l’Association canadienne des greffés et la So- ciété médicale du Nouveau-Brunswick;

b) de la documentation visant une sensibilisation ac- crue du public, y compris notamment l’accès plus fa- cile à de l’information sur les sites Web de Service Nouveau-Brunswick et du ministère de la Santé, ainsi Projet de loi

c) the steps taken by the Regional Health Authorities to ensure that organ and tissue donation is promoted within their facilities and communities. qu’à de la documentation dans les écoles, les hôpitaux et les autres centres de service du gouvernement du Nouveau-Brunswick;
