Notice is hereby given that sixty days from the date of service of this

Notice and its publication in Alberta Gazette, the Minister of Community

Development intends to make an Order that site known as the Duke of

Sutherland site complex, comprised of the residence, delco generator, pump

house and barn, together with the land legally described as portion of

meridian 4, range 14, township 19,

section 2, the south 400 feet of the

east 2490 feet of the south east quarter, containing 9.248 hectares (22.86

acres) more or less, excepting thereout: the road widening on plan 8211090,

containing 0.451 of a hectare (1.114 acres) more or less, excepting

thereout all mines and minerals and the right to work the same as shown on

Attachment "A", and municipally located near Brooks, Alberta

be designated as a Provincial Historic Resource under

section 16 of the

Historical Resources Act, R.S.A. 1980, c.H-8 as amended.

The reasons for the designation are as follows:

The historical significance of the Duke of Sutherland site complex lies in

its association with British investment in agriculture and colonization in

Alberta in the early part of the century. It also has the significance as

the summer residence of the Fourth Duke of Sutherland, and as the home of

managers of the farming Colony he established. It was a centre of

community activity and saw many important guests. It also stands as a

testament to the hopes for successful farming activity in the region

created by the Eastern Irrigation District.

It is therefore considered that the preservation and protection of the

resource is in the public interest.

Services", to expand the Agency's objects to provide for the treatment of

adults in addition to children and their families and to enable the

Agency's trustee to appoint such representative of the trustee to the

Agency's board as the trustee's manager chooses.
