Statute: Crop and Livestock Insurance Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture dated March 10, 2009, and pursuant to

Section 3 of

Chapter 113 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Crop and Livestock Insurance Act, is pleased to: (

a) reappoint James Baillie of Balfron, Tatamagouche, Colchester County, as a member of the Nova Scotia Crop and Livestock Insurance Commission for a further three year term commencing May 1, 2009 and expiring April 30, 2012; (

b) determine the rate of remuneration for carrying out duties as a member to be $100 per day; (

c) determine that reasonable expenses necessarily incurred by the member in carrying out his duties shall be paid in accordance with provincial government policy; (

d) determine that, as a condition of his appointment, James Baillie shall be bound by the principles and purposes of the Corporate Code of Conduct for Civil Servants and

Chapter 4 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1991, the Members and Public Employees Disclosure Act; and (

e) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate, or settle claims or charges made against James Baillie and indemnify him from personal liability, provided the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of activities in relation to his appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity, and where the Province so defends him, the Province will be in control of the case.
