I, Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Housing, order that the Building Act General Regulation, B.C. Reg. 131/2016, is amended as set out in the attached Appendix.

Appendix

Section 1 (1) of the Building Act General Regulation, B.C. Reg. 131/2016, is amended

(

a) by adding the following definition:

"2024 code" means the British Columbia Building Code established by the order of the Minister of Housing numbered BA 2023 10 and dated November 24, 2023; ,

(

b) in the definition of "building code" by adding the following paragraph:

(

c) Book I (General) of the 2024 code; , and

(

c) in the definition of "plumbing code" by adding the following paragraph:

(

c) Book II (Plumbing Systems) of the 2024 code; .

Section 2.5 (2) is amended by striking out " terms in italics " and substituting " terms in italics, other than Act titles or italicized text in square brackets as described in

section 11 (2) of the

Interpretation Act , ".

Section 8 is amended

(

a) in subsection (1) by striking out "

section 1 (1) of the Engineers and Geoscientists Act " and substituting "

section 5 of

Schedule 1 of the Professional Governance Act ", and

(

b) in subsection (2) by striking out " holders of limited licences under the Engineers and Geoscientists Act " and substituting " holders of professional licensee engineering licences under the Professional Governance Act ".

Section 9 (2) is amended

(

a) in paragraph (b) (ii) by striking out " set out in Table 2 " and substituting " set out in Tables 1.1 and 2 ",

(

b) in paragraph (

b) by adding the following subparagraph:

(iii) the provisions of Division B of Book I (General) of the 2024 code that are set out in Tables 1.2 and 2 in

Schedule 2; , and

(

c) in paragraph (

c) by striking out " 2012 code or 2018 code " and substituting " 2012 code, 2018 code or 2024 code ".

Section 1 (2) of

Schedule 1 is amended by striking out " terms in italics " and substituting " terms in italics, other than Act titles or italicized text in square brackets as described in

section 11 (2) of the

Interpretation Act , ".

6 Table 1 of

Schedule 1 is amended in Column 2 opposite " Building Level 1 " in Column 1

(

a) by repealing paragraph (a), and

(

b) in paragraph (c) (

i) by striking out " paragraph (

a) or (b) " and substituting " paragraph (b) ".

Schedule 2 is amended

(

a) by adding the following tables:
