Statute: Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Heritage dated September 5, 2006, and pursuant to Sections 5 and 6 of

Chapter 22 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Act, is pleased to: (

a) reappoint the following persons as governors of the Board of Governors of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia: (

i) Rob Sobey of Stellarton, Pictou County, for a term of office commencing November 2, 2006 and ending June 30, 2009; (ii) Duncan Gould of Membertou, Cape Breton Regional Municipality, for a term of office commencing November 2, 2006 and ending June 30, 2009; (iii) Dennice Leahey of Pugwash, Cumberland County, for a term of office commencing November 2, 2006 and ending June 30, 2009; (iv) Andrew Lynch of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, for a term of office commencing November 2, 2006 and ending June 30, 2009; (

b) appoint the following persons as governors of the Board of Governors of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia: (

i) Glenn Williams of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, for a term of office commencing November 2, 2006 and ending June 30, 2009; (ii) Shirlee Medjuck of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, for a term of office commencing November 2, 2006 and ending June 30, 2009; (iii) Paul Bradley of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, for a term of office commencing November 2, 2006 and ending June 30, 2009; (iv) Ken Ward of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, for a term of office commencing November 2, 2006 and ending November 1, 2007; (

c) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against the above appointees of the Board of Governors of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and indemnify them from personal liability in connection with any such claim, provided, however, that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointment, and is not based on fraud or criminal activity, and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
