Order in Council 1745/2022

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Lieutenant Governor in Council established the Greenbelt Plan by Order in Council 208/2005;

And

whereas Greenbelt Plan Amendment No. 1 was approved by the Lieutenant Governor in Council on January 9, 2013 to create an Urban River Valley designation and add lands that are part of the Glenorchy Conservation Area to the Greenbelt Plan;

And

whereas an amended Greenbelt Plan was approved by the Lieutenant Governor in Council effective July 1, 2017;

And

whereas

section 3 of the Greenbelt Act, 2005 provides that the Lieutenant Governor in Council may establish a Greenbelt Plan for all or part of the Greenbelt Area;

And

whereas

section 14 of the Greenbelt Act, 2005, provides that the Lieutenant Governor in Council may approve a proposed amendment to the Greenbelt Plan in whole or in part;

And

whereas the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing has given notice of and consulted on proposed amendments to the Greenbelt Plan to add lands in the County of Wellington (“the 2022 Protected Countryside Additions”) and lands in the City of Hamilton, the City of Toronto, the Regional Municipality of Durham and the Regional Municipality of Halton (“the 2022 Urban River Valley Additions”) to the Greenbelt Plan, while removing lands in the City of Hamilton, the Regional Municipality of Durham, the Regional Municipality of Niagara and the Regional Municipality of York (“the 2022 Protected Countryside Removals”) from the Greenbelt Plan;

And

whereas the Minister recommends that the Lieutenant Governor in Council approve the attached amendment as Greenbelt Plan Amendment No. 3;

Now therefore the attached Greenbelt Plan Amendment No. 3 is hereby approved, to take effect on the date that an amendment to Ontario Regulation 59/05 to add the 2022 Protected Countryside Additions and 2022 Urban River Valley Additions to the Greenbelt Area and remove the 2022 Protected Countryside Removals from the Greenbelt Area comes into force.
