Order in Council 334/2020

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Pursuant to subsections 672.5(14) and 722(4) of the Criminal Code (Canada), the Attorney General’s Victim Impact Statement Program, as established and administered by the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario, is hereby designated as a program responsible for establishing procedures respecting victim impact statements.

And further pursuant to subsection 722.2(2) of the Criminal Code , the Attorney General’s Community Impact Statement Program, as established and administered by the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario, is hereby designated as a program responsible for establishing procedures respecting community impact statements.

Therefore pursuant to subsections 672.5(14), 722(4) and 722.2(2) of the Criminal Code , the designated programs are hereby authorized to establish procedures respecting the filing of victim impact statements and community impact statements and, in the case of subsection 672.5(14), may vary the form.

Further , these Programs shall be given a fair, large and liberal

interpretation in keeping with the purposes set out in subsections 672.5(14), 722(1) and 722.2(1) of the Criminal Code. Any amendments to the Criminal Code , the forms or information guides shall not invalidate the Programs, which will apply mutatis mutandis.

OIC number 815/2004 dated April 14, 2004 is hereby revoked and the program designated therein is hereby replaced.
