OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General dated November 20, 2003, and pursuant to

Section 5 of

Chapter 159 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Family Court Act, is pleased to: (

a) appoint His Honour Chief Judge Patrick H. Curran of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, Chief Judge of the Provincial Court for the judicial district of the Province of Nova Scotia, to be a Judge of the Family Court for the Province of Nova Scotia, effective on and after December 19, 2003; (

b) appoint Her Honour Judge Carole A. Beaton of Amherst, Cumberland County, a Judge of the Provincial Court for the judicial district of the Province of Nova Scotia, to be a Judge of the Family Court for the Province of Nova Scotia, effective on and after December 19, 2003; and (

c) order that the terms of the appointment shall be that they (

i) are authorized to exercise the jurisdiction, powers and authority of a Judge of the Family Court for the Province of Nova Scotia, (ii) shall continue to exercise the jurisdiction, powers and authority of a Judge of the Provincial Court while they hold the office of Judge of the Family Court for the Province of Nova Scotia, and (iii) shall receive no salary or per diem payments in respect of their exercise of the jurisdiction, powers and authority of a Judge of the Family Court for the Province of Nova Scotia.
