Interpretation Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Addictions and Mental Health dated August 27, 2025, and pursuant to

Section 65 of

Chapter 42 of the Acts of 2005, the Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment Act , and pursuant to

Section 18 of

Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the

Interpretation Act , is pleased to: (

a) reappoint Dr. Mahmoud Awara of Halifax Regional Municipality as a psychiatrist member of the Review Board for a term of five years commencing September 4, 2025; (

b) appoint Ryan Clements of Queens County and Martina Munden of Colchester County, and reappoint Melanie Petrunia of Halifax Regional Municipality, as lawyer members of the Review Board, each for a term of three years commencing September 4, 2025; (

c) reappoint John Boddie of Halifax Regional Municipality as a lawyer member, and designate John Boddie as Chair of the Review Board, for a term of three years commencing November 1, 2025; (

d) reappoint Jennifer Garagan of Halifax Regional Municipality as a lawyer member, and designate Jennifer Garagan as Vice-chair of the Review Board, for a term of three years commencing September 4, 2025; and (

e) order that the Vice-chair of the Review Board receive $520 per day and $260 per half day, and when acting as Chair, $600 per day and $300 per half day, and be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling the duties of the Review Board, provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally payable to members of the civil service.
