EXPLANATORY

NOTE

The

Bill amends the Health Protection and Promotion Act

by adding

section 5.1.

Section 5.1 provides that every board of health shall

ensure colon cancer screening, including colonoscopies, is available to all

individuals 45 years of age and older.

Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the

Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

The Health Protection and Promotion Act is amended

by adding the following section:

5.1 For the purposes of

paragraph 2 of

section 5, and despite anything else in this Part, every board

of health shall ensure colon cancer screening, including colonoscopies, is

available to all individuals 45 years of age and older.

Commencement

This Act comes into force three months after the day it receives Royal Assent.

The

short title of this Act is the Bishop Brigante Colon

Cancer Prevention Act, 2026 .
