OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Justice dated April 24, 2007, and pursuant to

Section 672.38 of

Chapter C-46 of the Revised Statutes of Canada, 1985, the Criminal Code, is pleased to: (

a) appoint Dr. Syed Naveed Akhtar of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a member of the Nova Scotia Review Board for a term of office of 3 years commencing May 4, 2007; (

b) determine the remuneration of Dr. Syed Naveed Akhtar, be at the rate of $75.00 per hour, together with reasonable expenses; and (

c) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Dr. Syed Naveed Akhtar, and indemnify him from personal liability provided the Province is satisfied the claim arises out of his activities in relation to his appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends him, the Province will be in control of the case.
