Section of the Elections Act,

chapter E-3 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is amended by adding after sub- section (4) the following: 1 L’article de la Loi électorale,

chapitre E-3 des Lois révisées de 1973, est modifié par l’adjonction de ce qui suit après le paragraphe (4) : 51(4.1) The nomination papers of a candidate of a reg- istered political party shall include a statement that if the candidate leaves the caucus of the political party for which he or she is elected, the candidate will either sit as an in- dependent member of the Legislative Assembly or resign his or her seat. 51(4.1) La déclaration de candidature du candidat d’un parti politique enregistré renferme un énoncé selon lequel, s’il quitte le caucus du parti politique qu’il représentait lorsqu’il a été élu, il siégera comme député indépendant de l’Assemblée législative ou abandonnera son siège.

chapitre L-3 des Lois révisées de 1973, est modifiée par l’adjonction de ce qui suit après l’article 23 : 23.1(1) A member of the Legislative Assembly who is a representative of a registered political party and who ceases to belong to the caucus of that registered political party during the term for which he or she was elected shall either sit as an independent member of the Legislative As- sembly or resign his or her seat in accordance with

section 23. 23.1(1) Le député de l’Assemblée législative qui repré- sentante un parti politique enregistré et qui cesse de faire

partie du caucus de ce parti au cours de son mandat siège comme député indépendant de l’Assemblée législative ou abandonne son siège en conformité avec l’article 23. 1 23.1(2) The member referred to in subsection (1) who does not resign his or her seat shall be treated during the remainder of the member’s term as an independent mem- ber of the Legislative Assembly with respect to the pro- ceedings in the Legislative Assembly and for all other purposes. 23.1(2) Le député visé au paragraphe (1) qui n’aban- donne pas son siège conserve le statut de député indépen- dant de l’Assemblée législative jusqu’à la fin de son man- dat relativement à tous les travaux de l’Assemblée législative ou à toutes autres fins.
