Interpretation Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture dated May 8, 2018, and pursuant to

Section 3 of

Chapter 7 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Agriculture and Rural Credit Act , and

Section 18 of the

Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the

Interpretation Act , is pleased to: (

a) revoke the appointment of Arnold Park, Port Williams, Kings County, as director and Chairman of the Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board, which appointment was made by Order in Council 2015-157 dated June 2, 2015, effective July 3, 2018; (

b) appoint Dianne Kelderman of East Mountain, Colchester County, as a director of the Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board for a three-year term commencing July 3, 2018; (

c) appoint Caleb Wood of Halifax Regional Municipality (Halifax), as a director of the Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board for a four-year term commencing July 3, 2018; (

d) determine that Dianne Kelderman and Caleb Wood be remunerated for their service as directors in the amount of $100 per day and that they be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling their duties as directors, provided that any such reimbursement does not exceed that normally payable to members of the civil service; and (

e) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate, or settle claims or charges made against Dianne Kelderman or Caleb Wood, and indemnify them from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of activities in relation to their appointments and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends, the Province will be in control of the case.
