CHAPTER 2 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND "THE SALE OF BEER ORDINANCE." [Assented to May 19, 1926,] The Commissioner of the Yukon Territory, by and with the advice' and consent of the Council of said Territory, enacts as follows: 1. "The Sale of Beer Ordinance," being

Chapter 2 of the Ordinances of the Yukon Territory, 1925, is hereby amended by adding immediately after

section 11 thereof the following: "No institution shall be deemed to be a club within the meaning of th~s

section unless access to the premises is restricted in the u~ual way to club members, and denied to the public." 2. The said Ordinance is further amended by striking out the word "July" in the second line of

section 13 of said Ordinance and substituting therefor the word "December." 3. The said Ordinance is further amended by adding thereto the following sub-section immediately after the said

section 13:

(2) All licenses 'now issued and expIrIng on the 31stJuly, 1926, and any licenses issued between the date of coming into force of this, Ordinance and the said 31 st July, f926, shall be issued :UP to 31st December, 1926, and for such period the licensees shall pay one-half of the fees provi<ied by sectio~ 12 of the said Ordinance. (2) No licensee 'whose license has been forfeited under the provisions of this

section shall, during the said period of twenty~four months, directly or indirectly, on his own behalf or as the agent or employee of any other perso~, or through any other person as his agent or emp~oyee, engage in the business of a· hotel, lodging or boarding house keeper in the Yukon Territory.

(3) Violation of the provisions of this

section shall be an offence for which the person violating shall be subject to the penalties provided by

CHAPTER 7 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND "THE YUKON GAME ORDINANCE." [Assented to Ala), 19,1926.1 The Commissioner of the Yukon Territory, by and with the advice and consent of the Council of said Territory, enacts as follows: 1.

Chapter 1 of the Ordinances of 1920, as amended by

Chapter 5 of the Ordinances of 1923, being "The Yukon Game Ordinance," is hereby amended by striking out the words "Provided that no Indian shall be licensed as a Chief Guide" at the end of sub-section 1 of

section 11 of said Ordinance and substituting the following there for : Provided that the Commission·er may issue, at his discretion; to any indian whom he may deem qualified to carry out the duties of a Chief Guide a license to so act as Chief Guide.

CHAPTER 8 AN ORDiNANCE TO AMEND "THE GOVERN MENT LIQUOR ORDINANCE." [Assented to May 19, 1926.J The Commissioner of the Yukon T~rritory, by and with the advice and consent of the Council of said Territory, enacts as follows:

GOVERNMENT LIQUOR ORDINANCE, AMENDMENT. 9 L "The Government Liquor Ordinance," being'Chap- ~~C~n14ed. ter 1 of the Ordinances of the. Yukon Territory; 1921,· (Second Session), is hereby amended by adding thereto immediately after section. 14 of the said Ordinance, the following sub-section: (2) "Thenever a quantity of liquor forms par't of I?~~~~s,:! of the assets of the estate of some deceased or insane per- ~~s~~~fe~ of son, the executor or administrator who is administering such estate shall forthwith notify the Commissioner in writing of the kind and quantity of such liquor.

The Territorial Government shall thereupon have the right to purchase such liquor from the estate at the current landed cost to the Government of similar liquor. If the Government elects not· to purchase such liquor, the executor or administrator may sell the same to a person or persons first approved of by the Commissioner.

CHAPTER 9 AN ORDINANCE TO SUSPEND THE OPERATION OF" THE CROWN GRANT TAX ORDINANCE." [Assented to May 19, 1926.]

Whereas, It is deemed advisable to suspend the opera tion of "The Crown Grant Tax Ordinance,". being

Chapter 5 of the Ordinances of 1919, and the Ordinances in .amend ment thereof for a further period of three years, as enacted by

Chapter 4 of the Ordinances of 1923: The Commissioner of 'the Yukon Ter'ritbry, by and with the advice and consent of the Council of said Territory, therefore enacts as follows: 1. The operation of "The Crown Grant Tax Ordin- ~~~r~~~~e of ance" and all Ordinances in amendment thereof sh~ll be ~~:P:e~~~d suspended in and during the calendar years 1927, 1928 and ~~2J'1~~~~'

Such suspension sliall in no way interfere with, hinder or suspend the carrying out of the provisions ~f said Ordinance and amending Ordinances so far as concerns the assessment and collections of taxes thereunder for any year from the coming into force of the said Ordinance up to and including the year 1923, and all proceedings and things necessary for the recovery of such taxes for the year last mentioned, or the sale of property for unpaid taxes, and all proceedings and things necessary to be done or that may be done both before and subsequent to any such sale as pro vided by the said Ordinance and amendments, may be had and done notwithstanding any of the provisions of this.

Ordinance. 2. The said "The Crown Grant Tax Ordinance" and Ordinances in amendment thereof shall again come into full operation from and after the first day of January, 1930.

From and out of the sums at the disposal of the Yukon Council there shall be paid and applied a further sum, not exceeding in the whole one hundred eighty-four thousand nine hundred thirty-three dollars and eighty-five cents for defraying the several charges and expenses of the Public Service of the Yukon Territory for the year ended March 31st, 1926, as set forth in

In the event of there being a surplus of moneys standing to the credit of any item voted for Roads, Bridges and Public Works after the construction or repairs provided for have been completed to the satisfaction of the Superin tendent of Works and Buildings, such surplus of moneys shall forthwith on the acceptance of such works or repairs by the Commissioner of the Yukon Territory, be taken from said item and become part of and be added to the amount provided for contingencies to such Roads, Bridges and Public Works, and shall thereafter be at the disposal of the Commissioner of the Yukon Territory for Roads, Bridges and Public Works.
