If it shall anpe:lJ" th at any sale proceedings here tofore taken under the provisions of this Ordinance have been rendered abortive or ineffective by reason of failure to give or to record the neces~arv instrument of transfer within the time provided by the Land Titles Act, or for any other technical reason. the CcHector may take the following special proceedings with respect to any claims so sold or purported to have been sold or forfeited: (a) (b) (

Section 1.0. of the "Bills . of Sale Ordi nance", being-

Chapter 7 of the. Consolidated Ordinances of the Yukon Territory, 1914, is. hereby amended by add ing the words "or bonds" after the word "debentures" in the second and third lines of the said sub-section; and is further amended by adding the word's "or at any time prior to the expiration of two years from the day of the registra tion of the said mortgage or conveyance" after the word "Conveyance" in the eighth line of said sub-section. CHAPTER.: .. vnl" AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE THE HOURS OF LABOUR IN PLACER MINING OPERATIONS. (Assented to JUl1e 12,1929) The Commissioner of the Yukon Territory, by and wit.h the advice and consent of the Council of said Terri tOI~y, enact'; as follows: ( 1 ) No person shall be employed in or about any placer mining operations in th'e Yukon Territory for a long=r period than eight hours in any twenty-feur hours, excqt that when shifts change such person maybe employed for whatever longer'period may be necessary to make the change.

(2) Provided that the prohibition herein con tained shall not apply to the working of overtime by any such p:::rson, at the rate to be ~greed UpCI1 in writing between employer and employee.

(3) The word "person" used herein s!~all not in clude any employee who is engaged by the month. (4) "Twentyfour hours" shaH mean from mid night to midnight.

(2) Any owner, agent or manager and anyone acting on be half of any owner, agent or manager, employing any work man or person in contravention of this Ordinance shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding $50.00, nor less than $10.00 for each workman or person so employed, and every workman or person so working for a longer period than· that specified in the preceding

section shall be liable to a,. penalty not exceeding $50.00 and not less than $10.00, and costs.

(3) This Ordinance shall come into force on 1 st August, 1929.

In the event of there being a surplus of moneys standing to the credit of any item voted for Roads, Bridges and Public Works after the construction or repairs provid ed for have been completed to the satisfaction of the Superintendent of Works and Buildings, such surplus of moneys shall forthwith on the acceptance of ,such works or repairs by the CommIssioner of the Yukon Territory, be taken from said item and become part of and be added to the amount provided for contingencies to such roads, bridges and public works, and shall thereafter be at the disposal of the Commissioner of the Yukon Territory for Roads, Bridges and Public "vVorks.
