An act to amend
Section 12096.6.6 of the Government Code, relating to state government. state government Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development: California Competes Grant Program . Existing law establishes the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, also known as “GO-Biz,” to, among other duties, serve the Governor as the lead entity for economic strategy and the marketing of California on issues relating to business development, private sector investment, and economic growth.
This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to the provision establishing the office.</xhtml:p>"?> Existing law, until January 1, 2030, and upon appropriation by the Legislature, creates the California Competes Grant Program, which, among other things, authorizes the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development to provide grants to an applicant that meets specified criteria relating to the creation of jobs or investments in the state. This bill would extend the operation of these provisions until January 1, 2031.

Section 12096.6.6 of the Government Code is amended to read: 12096.6.6. This

The office shall be under the direct control of a director, who shall be responsible to the Governor.</xhtml:p><xhtml:p>(b)<xhtml:span class="EnSpace"/>The Governor shall appoint the Director of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development who shall perform all duties, exercise all powers, assume and discharge all responsibilities, and carry out and effect all purposes vested by law in the office, including contracting for professional or consultant services in connection with the work of the office.</xhtml:p><xhtml:p>(c)<xhtml:span class="EnSpace"/>The salary of the Director of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development shall be fixed pursuant to
